The Morro Castle of the Ward Line, turboelectric luxury liner, 500 ft. long, 11,500 tons. Launched Newport News, Virginia, March 5, 1930. Ran aground and burned off Asbury Park, New Jersey, September 9, 1934 on her 174th round trip New York-Havana. Eighty-six passengers and forty-nine crew members lost their lives. |
